Two people were treated for breathing in smoke as fire crews from Brighton and Newhaven tackled a house fire in Telscombe Cliffs this morning (Saturday 20 April).
The fire service said: “East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service attended a serious fire earlier today.
“We were called to Central Avenue in Telscombe Cliffs at 6.26am to reports of a bungalow on fire.
“Two people were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.
“Four fire engines attended – two from Newhaven, one from Roedean and one from Preston Circus.
“The aerial ladder platform from Preston Circus and the control unit from Bexhill were also sent to the scene.
“Firefighters used breathing apparatus, firefighting foam and hose reel jets to tackle the fire.
“As of 9.30am they were damping down the property.
“The Red Cross fire victims support team are offering support.
“The cause of the fire is not yet known.”
