A man has been charged with abducting a 13-year-old girl from Brighton.
Sussex Police said: “A London man has appeared in court charged with abduction and sexual offences, relating to a 13-year-old Brighton girl.
“Kerian Rudland, 23, unemployed, of Alwold Crescent, Eltham, London, appeared at Brighton Magistrates Court on Wednesday (13 February) and was remanded in custody to appear at Lewes Crown Court on 13 March.
“He is charged with child abduction, with meeting the girl for sexual purposes after online grooming, with two offences of sexual activity with a child and with one offence of attempting to incite sexual activity with a child.
“The charges, authorised by the CPS, follow an investigation by officers from the Brighton Safeguarding Investigations Unit into a report received on Sunday evening (10 February).
“Rudland was arrested in London on the following morning.
“The girl is safe, and there are no current safeguarding issues for any other person.”
