A man has been charged with stealing a large amount of cash from a Brighton bookmaker.
Abdul Fattah-Chaar, 30, of New England Street, Brighton, is due to appear before magistrates in just under a fortnight’s time.
Sussex Police said: “A man who officers wanted to speak to in connection with a theft of a large quantity of cash from Betfred bookmakers in Brighton has been arrested and charged.
“A man was sitting at one of the electronic games machines in the bookmakers in St James’s Street while a staff member was emptying the machines of cash at about 6.10pm on Monday 17 December.
“He then grabbed the pile of money and ran out of the shop.
“A CCTV image of the suspect was released to the public and media and a man handed himself into police.”
Fattah-Chaar was arrested and charged with theft.
He has been released on bail to appear at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 7 February.
