Six people have been arrested on suspicion of committing drugs offences in Brighton, with a seventh held on suspicion of money laundering.
Sussex Police said: “Police officers in Brighton have seized thousands of pounds worth of drugs and cash and made a number of arrests in the last few days.
“Prevention officers carried out two drugs warrants at a kebab shop and a flat both in Preston Road on Thursday morning (13 December).
“A large quantity of cocaine and cash was seized and two men aged 29 and 31 were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to supply a class A drug and entering the UK without permission.
“A third man aged 39 was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit money laundering.
“They are currently in custody.
“Officers stopped a car for a driving document check in Meadowview on Wednesday (12 December) at 5pm and noticed a smell of cannabis.
“Its occupants and the vehicle were searched and bags containing cannabis worth more than £5,500 were seized, along with cash.
“Three men aged 21, 22 and 24, all from Brighton, were arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of a class B drug. They were interviewed and released under investigation.
“A man was spotted acting suspiciously in St James’s Street by prevention officers on patrol on Sunday (9 December) at 1.20pm.
“He was followed into New Steine where he went into a hotel before running out of the back.
“He was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of a class A drugs after wraps of suspected crack and heroin were found nearby. A large quantity of cash was also seized.
“A 24-year-old man of no fixed address was interviewed and released under investigation.”
Inspector Nick Dias said: “We are continually working to make Brighton and Hove a hostile place to deal drugs.
“The warrants and proactive stops in recent days by prevention teams means a significant quantity of drugs have been taken off the city’s streets.”
