The gig in question is being touted as “Christmas Is Magic” and “I’m dreaming of a synth/dream/kraut pop Christmas”. So that’ll give you an idea what to expect – luscious synth sounds!
On offer at the Prince Albert in Brighton from 7:30pm on Wednesday 19th December will be three really decent bands. Let’s meet them….
Bloom are a two girl-two boy outfit, that includes Megan Clifton host of ‘The Brighton Guide’ show on Radio Reverb. Bloom make the most of their perfect harmonious duo girl vocals, which are very pleasant indeed. Their sound is indie pop, so check out their locally shot video for ‘Letting Go’ HERE.

Fröst are motorik, angular and electronic and will appeal to fans of Broadcast, Silver Apples and Kraftwerk (Well that’s me sorted then!). The project is a collaboration between Franco-Swedish sound artist Johanna Bramli (vocalist for Stereolab offshoot Imitation Electric Piano) and Fujiya & Miyagi’s Synth player and producer Steve Lewis. The pair bring together their individual sounds to create a hypnotic blend of radiophonics and repetition that’s all neatly wrapped in pop structures. They have recently released their debut album ‘Matters’.

CIEL [pronunciation: sjɛl] was the solo project of Dutch artist Michelle Hindriks. CIEL makes shoegazey trips, somewhere between Deerhunter, Fever Ray and Blonde Redhead. The first EP ‘Anxiety’ was released last year via Geertruida (NL) and Tree Machine Records (USA). Now Michelle has put together a brand new band – Hannah on drums, Jorge on guitar and Scotty filling in on bass – and the Prince Albert will be their first ever gig together – exciting times!
