A Brighton man has been arrested over the security van armed robbery in Hove yesterday lunchtime (Monday 19 November).
But detectives are still hunting three other men after a security guard was threatened with an axe.
The four robbers stole cash from outside the Brighton and Hove Buses depot in Conway Street, Hove, and fled on white scooters.
Sussex Police said this afternoon (Tuesday 20 November): “Did you see two scooters driven in Brighton or Hove which could be connected to Hove robbery?
“Police are still hunting for three people connected to a robbery in Hove on Monday afternoon.
“One man has been arrested on suspicion of robbery after a security van was robbed in Conway Street, Hove, at 1.20pm.
“Four robbers on the back of two scooters stole two boxes of cash from a member of security staff.
“The security officer was threatened with an axe.
“The suspects left on two white Lambretta-type scooters, in the direction of Old Shoreham Road.
“A 25-year-old man from Brighton was arrested on Monday night and currently remains in custody.”
Detective Inspector Ian Still said: “We believe these two scooters were stolen during the previous two days. One of them was stolen at 12.40pm on Monday from Clifton Street before being used in the robbery less than an hour later.
“We are very keen to hear from anyone who might have seen these two distinctive Lambretta-style white scooters being driven around, probably together, between 12.40pm and 4pm, when they were found. They were found abandoned in Clermont Terrace, Brighton.
“We are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed these scooters being driven with two people on them or anyone who might have dash-cam footage which captured them.
“Anyone who was using dash-cam is asked to please check the footage to see if they caught the scooters being driven or parked as this could be key to our investigation.
“Anyone who can help is asked to contact police online quoting serial 572 of 19/11.”
