A security lorry has been robbed of two cash boxes in Hove this lunchtime (Monday 19 November) by four men on scooters.
They stole two boxes from the crew of the Loomis security lorry after threatening them with an axe.
The robbery happened outside the Brighton and Hove Buses depot in Conway Street at about 1.20pm.
The crew were collecting cash from the bus company.
The robbers fled north on Lambretta-type scooters towards Hove Park.
Sussex Police issued an appeal for witnesses or anyone with knowledge of the armed robbery.
The force said: “Police are searching for four robbers who stole two boxes containing cash from a security van crew member in Conway Street, Hove, at 1.20pm on Monday (19 November).
“The crew member was threatened with an axe but not assaulted.
“The robbers left on two white Lambretta-type scooters, in the direction of Old Shoreham Road.
“Anyone who saw what happened or who has seen two scooters of this description in the Hove area during the morning or early afternoon is asked to call 999 quoting serial 572 of 19/11.”
