The 30-year-old defender was caught driving a nearly new Land Rover at 90mph at Shoreham where the speed limit is 70mph.
He was ordered to pay a £667 fine at Crawley Magistrates’ Court today (Tuesday 2 October) and court costs of £85 along with a victim surcharge of £66, making £818 in total.
He was also given three points on his driving licence.
The court was told that Bong, who plays international football for Cameroon, was clocked at about 1pm on Friday 29 December.
Bong was also accused of failing to give his details but this charge was dropped as he had done so – and the error was with the authorities.
He was listed as living in Mash Barn Lane, Lancing, which is the address of Albion’s training ground.
When his case was listed four weeks ago, Bong did not appear.
The bench adjourned the case until today with a view to giving the player a driving ban but instead he left court with three points and a fine.
