A Brighton radio station is taking part in a national campaign to encourage better awareness of mental health issues this morning (Tuesday 15 May).
Radio Reverb, the not-for-profit community radio station, said that it would be taking part in the “Mental Health Minute” organised by the Community Media Association.
At 10.59am Radio Reverb will join other stations across the country in broadcasting a one-minute message to increase awareness about mental health.
The message features the voices of Prince William and Prince Harry, the actors David Harewood and Dame Judi Dench, pop singer Lady Gaga and Olympic champion Dame Jessica Ennis-Hill.
The event recognises Mental Health Awareness Week and Radio Audio Week which both take place this week.
Radio Reverb’s station director Tracey Allen said “Radio Reverb are proud to be taking part in such an important national campaign.
“Our first priority as a not-for-profit radio station is to support the Brighton and Hove community so we consider raising awareness of mental health to be very important.
“Taking part in the #MentalHealthMinute is part of Radio Reverb’s continued effort to encourage positive attitudes towards mental health after we launched a show dedicated to the subject early this year.”
The show – Mental Health Matters – started in January, hosted by counsellor and drama therapist Bruce Guthrie.
The monthly programme aims to inspire better mental health in Brighton and Hove through hearing meaningful interviews with health professionals and sharing information about local services.
The next episode is due to air on 97.2FM, on DAB+ and online at www.radioreverb.com on Sunday 10 June at 3pm.
The community radio station also has a “listen again” button to listen to shows on catch up.
