Work to complete the staircase by the revamped Volk’s Railway will be completed just in time for its grand opening tomorrow.
Builders downed tools halfway through finishing the railings last month because they didn’t have the necessary fixings.
But with just hours to go before the first passengers of the season are due to embark, workmen are due to return today to complete the job.
A council spokesman said: “The installation of the railings will be completed tomorrow and the staircase to the beach will be open at this point.
“There will still be some painting to complete but this will be undertaken after the Easter holidays.
“When the cast iron railings were being installed the manufacturer decided that some additional brackets were required to secure the panels in place.
“These had to be made to measure and work was suspended until these were manufactured.”
