As the 1976 John Miles top 3 smash hit states “Music was my first love, And it will be my last, Music of the future, And music of the past, To live without my music, Would be impossible to do, In this world of troubles, My music pulls me through”.
The guy certainly knew what he was talking about didn’t he?
To millions of people around the world, music is vital to their existence and well-being. I am one of them and I know that I am not the only person in Brighton to believe this. Our music scene currently feels as though it is bursting at the seems at present, with all this new young blood coming through. At times, it seems as though there’s a band living on every street in the city.
Having said that, there’s always room for more people to get involved in playing music.
It can be a daunting task in deciding which instrument(s) to play and where to purchase them from. Here in Brighton, we are rather fortunate as we have a reasonable selection of music store outlets to choose from, be it large multi-store concerns or simply specialist one man bands. We’ve got African drums right through to Violin makers, so there should be somewhere local that you could check out. The people that run and work in these premises are nearly always very enthusiastic about their products, some even borderline on obsessive, which I personally think will help sweep you along into the wonderful world of making music.
So here are a few suggestions that should be worth following up on. It literally is up to each individual to decide which store and product best suits them. We at the Brighton & Hove News are not favouring any of these over one or other, we are simply letting you know that they are in Brighton and that you could make use of their services should you wish. If we have omitted your fave store, then let us know. They are listed in alphabetical order for ease – good luck!
