Fact – Hinds are fun fun fun. Don’t believe me, then watch the fun video for their new song ‘New For You’ here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HpQgrWndsLg
This is a track from their much-anticipated second album, I Don’t Run, which will be unleashed on the unsuspecting world on Friday 6 April.
It arrives two years after Leave Me Alone, their terrific debut Top 50 album, and once again will be filled with catchy DIY singalong numbers.
Two weeks after the album is launched, the señoritas will be at the Concorde 2 on Brighton seafront, as part of their 37+ date UK, Europe & USA album plugging tour, where they will get the crowd jumping around to their uplifting indie-rock tunes.
So, put Friday 20 April in your diary now. This this should give you enough time to familiarise yourself with the songs on their new album.
The Brighton fans are fortunate indeed as the Concorde 2 gig is just one of five UK concerts on the tour.
The girls obviously enjoy Brighton’s vibe as they have played here before at Patterns and the Joker. Each time they come back, the venue gets bigger, a sure sign of their continuing success!
The señoritas from Madrid got together back in 2011 as a bedroom duo called Deers, which consisted of cheeky Carlotta Cosials (vocals, guitar) and sassy Ana Perrote (vocals, guitar).
Before long they had recruited Ade Martin (bass, backing vocals) and Dutch born Amber Grimbergen (drums).
I picked up on them in 2014 when they had released just four songs on Bandcamp (Bamboo, Trippy Gum, Castigadas en el Granero and Between Cans) and I really loved what they were doing.
However, confusion set in as Deers had to change their name due to another artist of the same name and so, being girls, they opted for the female deer moniker of Hinds and have never looked back.
I don’t think that there is any point in comparing these ladies to any other artists as to me they are unique and (wait for it, here comes that word again …) fun!
Alas I couldn’t get in to see them live at the Joker gig but more than made up for it when seeing them perform in London and at Patterns in Brighton, where both times I met them – charming experience.
