A community hub in East Brighton has been given a six-month reprieve.
Brighton Housing Trust (BHT) has announced that the Whitehawk Inn is to remain open until at least September 2018 while long-term viability options continue to be explored.
BHT announced in October that the Whitehawk Inn might have to close at the end of March.
But the charity said that it had been able to commit sufficient funds to continue for a further six months although with a reduced level of service.
BHT chief executive Andy Winter said: “We are not out of the woods yet and the long-term future remains uncertain but this is positive news for the people of East Brighton who use the Whitehawk Inn.
“In the short term, we will continue with most of our existing services.
“We are exploring a number of options for the future.
“We remain committed to providing much needed services for the people of East Brighton at the Whitehawk Inn.”
