The latest plans for the site of the demolished American Express offices in Edward Street, Brighton, go on show this afternoon (Wednesday 24 January).
The site’s owners and developers, First Base and Patron Capital, want to build about 160 homes and workspace for more than 1,200 staff.
They said that people who live and work in the area were invited to see their plans at a drop-in consultation event at the Millwood Community Centre from 5pm to 8pm.
The event would give neighbours a chance to see how the plans have taken shape, including the design of the proposed buildings.
They are planned to be between three and eight storeys high – all lower than the previous “wedding cake” structure.
First Base project director Lucinda Mitchell said: “We have been pleased by how engaged the community around Edward Street is.
“Over the course of our consultation events we have met a lot of people who have given us constructive feedback which we’ve been able to incorporate into our plans.
“This session is an opportunity for local people to see our plans before we submit them to the council – and, of course, give any feedback that they may have.
“We want to ensure that this development meets the needs, aspirations and ambitions of the local community, so all comments are very welcome.”
First Base and Patron Capital intend to submit their plans for the development to Brighton and Hove City Council early next month.
The full event address is Millwood Community Centre, Nelson Row, Kingswood Street, BN2 9QG.
