Experienced referee Neil Swarbrick, who was in charge of Albion’s match away at Manchester United earlier in the season, will make history as the first ever video referee in an English FA Cup match.
Swarbrick will sit in a studio near Heathrow in front of around 70 screens as Brighton and Hove Albion take on Crystal Palace.
He will be jowned by experienced assistant referee Peter Kirkup, who once had a touchline bust up with former Palace boss Alan Pardew, when the latter was manager of Newcastle United.
While Albion and Palace slug it out on the pitch, the video ref may be required to give his view on any incidents, if requested, by march referee Andre Marriner.
Albion take on Palace at the Amex next Monday (8 January) at 7.45pm.
