Brighton firefighters and their supporters collected more than £13,000 for charity over two days.
East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said: “Crews, community volunteers and other support from across the service carried out a charity collection in and around Preston Circus Fire Station, Brighton.
“This year £13,744.50 was collected which will be going to the Fire Fighters Charity.
“Just under £2,000 of this was raised by a simultaneous collection taking place at Barclays Bank in North Street, Brighton.
“The Fire Fighters Charity provides services that enhance quality of life for serving and retired fire fighters, fire personnel and their families through a range of support programmes including physical rehabilitation, psychological support, recuperation and a confidential helpline which provides impartial advice, guidance and support on a wide range of concerns.”
Preston Circus station manager Tom Walby said: “The huge amount was due to the enthusiastic turnout from on and off-duty crews, support staff and community volunteers.
“Obviously, it would be nothing without the fantastic and generous support of the local and visiting community of Brighton and Hove.
“I would like to thank all ESFRS crews, staff and volunteers who assisted with the collection and a big thank you to all those who donated.”
The collections took place on Thursday 21 December and Friday 22 December.
