A thief on a bike robbed a woman in Hove, Sussex Police said this afternoon (Wednesday 6 December).
The force said: “Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman was robbed as she walked with her daughter in Westbourne Gardens, Hove.
“A man on a bike approached the 39-year-old victim as she tended to her daughter and tried to grab her bag at about 3.15pm on Wednesday 29 November.
“She pushed him off his cycle but he still managed to steal her bag and ran off along Sackville Gardens before jumping over a fence and into gardens in Walsingham Road.
“Officers made an extensive search of the area but were unable to trace the suspect, who is white, aged in his late thirties to early forties, between 5ft 10in to 6ft, slim, with brown hair and stubble.
“He was wearing dark trousers, a dark quilted or puffer style waist length jacket, with either a hood or hat covering his head.
“The victim was shaken but unhurt.”
Investigator Daniel Law said: “This happened at school pick up time in a busy area so there would have been people around.
“We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the robbery or from anyone who has any information.
“Contact police online or ring 101 quoting serial 828 of 29/11.”
