A woman was pulled from the sea near Brighton Marina this morning (Sunday 19 November).

Despite efforts to resuscitate her, the woman was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.
She was spotted in the water by the crew of a fishing boat just before 9am.
The coastguard helicopter from Lydd, in Kent, was sent to search for her, along with the RNLI Brighton lifeboat.

The woman was found about a quarter of a mile from the shore.
Sussex Police were called. The force is treating the woman’s death as unexplained.
A report is being prepared for the coroner.
