An elderly man who collapsed at a bus stop in a busy Hove road was resuscitated by paramedics before being rushed to hospital.
mbulances were called to Blatchington Road at about 1.40pm when the man had a cardiac arrest at the bus stop.
Two ambulances and two paramedic cars were sent to the scene, and police also attended as the medics tried to revive him.
One passer-by said: “Emergency services were performing CPR in the bus stop on Blatchinton Road this afternoon for ages. I can’t stop thinking about it, they were working so hard. I hope they were successful.”
A spokesman for South East Coast Ambulance Service said: “Ambulance crews in two ambulances and two cars attended the scene following reports a man had collapsed in cardiac arrest.
“The man was resuscitated but still in a very serious condition when taken to Royal Sussex County Hospital.
“We would like to thank anyone who stopped to help the man at the scene.”
