A man was treated for burns after a fire in a top-floor flat in Brighton yesterday evening (Tuesday 24 October).
The blaze, near the Seven Dials, was one of two fires in flats tackled by East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service last night.
The fire service said: “Hove and Preston Circus crews were alerted to a fire, persons reported at a property in Buckingham Road, Brighton, at 5.43pm.
“The fire was in a top floor flat.
“All persons were accounted for and first aid was administered to one male occupant suffering burns.
“The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.
“Preston Circus, Hove and Roedean crews were alerted to a fire at a property in Landsdowne Place, Hove, at 8.07pm.
“Initially the call came in as persons reported. Fortunately all persons were accounted for.
“The incident was confirmed as a small fire in the first-floor bedroom.
“Crews used two breathing apparatus and one hose reel jet.
“A home safety visit was undertaken by crews.”
