A man from Brighton has been arrested after a children’s nursery in Hove was destroyed by fire in a suspected arson attack.
Sussex Police said today (Monday 2 October): “A fire which seriously damaged a children’s nursery in Palmeira Avenue, Hove, on Saturday evening (30 September) is being treated as suspicious.
“Police were called to the fire at the CBabiesafe nursery shortly after 9pm and assisted East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service by closing nearby streets to traffic.
“Officers also helped to evacuate nearby properties affected by smoke.
“A 54-year-old Brighton man has been arrested on suspicion of arson and released under investigation.
“Investigations into the cause of the fire are continuing and anyone with information is asked to contact police online or phone 101, quoting serial 1295 of 30/09.
