The Hove man accused of slapping women’s bottoms as he rode past them on a bike has been brought before Brighton magistrates.
Constantin Barbutu, 20, a dish washer, of Cromwell Road, Hove, was charged with 20 counts of sexual assault from September last year to February this year.
The Romanian was charged with sexual assault, “intentionally touching a woman aged 16 or over, and that touching was sexual when she did not consent and you did not reasonably believe that she was consenting”.
He is alleged to have slapped or grabbed women in Old Steine, Brighton, Madeira Drive, Brighton, London Road, Patcham, Montpelier Terrace, Brighton, and – in Hove – in New Church Road, Brunswick Lawns, in Kingsway, Lansdowne Road, The Drive, Holland Road, Medina Villas, Eaton Villas, Cromwell Road, Somerhill Road, St Ann’s Well Gardens, in Somerhill Avenue, Richardson Road and Portland Avenue.
Barbutu was granted conditional bail until next month when he must appear in the crown court.
His bail conditions include not riding a bike.
