An 11-year-old girl pedestrian has been badly hurt in a crash in Old Shoreham Road, Portslade, at lunchtime today (Sunday 10 September).
She suffered serious head injuries and was flown by air ambulance to a hospital in London after the accident.
Sussex Police issued an appeal for witnesses and any dash cam footage.
The force said: “A young girl has been seriously injured in a Portslade road collision.
“At 1.45pm on Sunday (10 September) the 11-year-old local girl pedestrian and a vehicle were in collision in Old Shoreham Road, Portslade, near the Mayberry Garden Centre.
“The girl sustained serious injuries and was taken by air ambulance to St George’s Hospital in south London.
“Nobody else was reported to have been injured in the incident.”
Sergeant Dan Eaton of the Surrey and Sussex Road Policing Unit said: “Anyone who saw what happened is asked to contact the police via collision.appeal@sussex.pnn.police.uk or call 101, quoting Operation Gloss.
“If anyone has any dash cam footage or CCTV relating to this incident, we would be particularly interested to hear from them.”
