Despite making two deadline day signings, Brighton and Hove Albion failed to fill the vital striker role.
Tomer Hemed is currently the club’s only fit senior striker.
Deals for both the Romanian, Florin Andone, from Deportivo La Coruna, and Tottenham Hotspur’s Dutch international forward, Vincent Janssen, fell through at the last minute.
Albion have so far failed to score in the Premier League.
The Seagulls cannot now sign a striker until the new year.
Andone appeared keen to join the Seagulls but it was reported that Deportivo’s board were not as keen to let him leave.
Janssen, 23, played up front for the Dutch national team on Thursday evening as they lost 4-0 in Paris to France.
This must have made Albion’s job of securing his services, agreeing personal terms and arranging a medical, even more difficult.
The player is thought to have turned the club down, despite the Premier League granting an extension to secure his signature.
