Pupils at Patcham High School have achieved the best set of GCSE results for the school, head John McKee said today (Thursday 24 August).
Mr McKee praised their performance particularly in light of the changes to GCSE courses and grades this year.
He said: “Congratulations to our students for achieving Patcham High’s best results ever for the third consecutive year.
“Well done for all their hard work alongside the dedication and commitment of our staff and the continuous support from their homes.
“We are delighted with the success of our students particularly in light of the changes to the exam system.
“More has been demanded of both staff and students – and today is a clear indication that we’ve stepped up to the mark.
“73 per cent of students achieved good passes in both English and mathematics – 5 per cent higher than last year, with 25 per cent of all grades across all subjects being at A* or A – again the highest ever.
“Particular congratulations should go to Luca Merkel with 11 A* grades, Luis Almonacid with eight A*s and two As, Phoebe Wadey with seven A*s and two As and Jodie Lawson with five A* and five A grades.
“With such a rise in exam results, more students than ever will be progressing on to college courses and apprenticeships of their choosing and we wish them all the very best for their bright futures.
“Thank you to staff and parents for the huge support that they have given this year. Working as a team has made a really positive impact.”
