A thief stole a 95-year-old Hove woman’s handbag during a trip to the shops.
Sussex Police published a CCTV picture of the suspect and asked for the public’s help in tracing her.
The force said today (Monday 21 August): “Do you know this woman?
“Police would like to talk to her about the theft of an elderly woman’s handbag on Friday 11 August.
“The victim, a 95-year-old from Hove, was shopping at the Co-operative store in Blatchington Road, Hove, between 1pm and 1.15pm when her white leather handbag was taken from her shopping basket.
“The handbag had personal items and cash inside.
“The suspect is described as a black woman, in her late thirties to early forties and with black tied back hair.
“She was wearing an African-style shawl in a bright green, red, yellow and white pattern and was carrying a dark handbag.
“If you have any information on the suspect or saw what happened, please report online or call 101 quoting reference 730 of 11/08.”
