Three people have been arrested after a fight in the Old Steine in the early hours of Saturday morning (June 24).
At around 1.30am police were called to a reports of a large fight near to the fountain involving around 20 people.
Officers attended and the group was dispersing but officers arrested three people.
A 20-year-old man, who was visiting the city from London, was beaten up and received stab wounds to his back and legs. He was taken to hospital and received stitches.
Detective Constable Tom Coll said: “This is a very busy area of central Brighton even at this time in the morning and we are appealing to anyone who saw it happening.
“The suspects are believed to have come from the St James’s Street direction and we are appealing to anyone who was in that area who might have seen them heading towards Old Steine.”
Three teenagers, a 14-year-old and a 16-year-old from Brighton and a 17-year-old from Croydon were arrested for GBH with intent and have been released under investigation.
Anyone who saw what happened is asked to contact police quoting serial 124 of 24/06.
