Trap 6 Tyrap Dragi won the 2017 Hove Regency Final at odds of 8/1. The dog locally trained in Sussex by Jason Heath won in a time of 41.94 seconds and by one and a half lengths. Trap 1 Slick Strauss finished in second and Trap 4 Ruby’s Rascal third.
The Regency is Hove’s most prestigious and longest-running competition. The first final was in 1948 and greyhound fans will celebrate its 70th year next May.
Despite the fairly sparse crowd the atmosphere was superb. Sky Sports covered the meeting live and ITV Racing’s Matt Chapman broadcast a report from the betting ring.
Former Hove Park school boy Karl Hulme was a big fan of the Regency. Today we remember him on the 20th Anniversary of his untimely death aged just 26.
