A man from Brighton has been remanded in custody after appearing in court charged with rape.
Joseph Warren, 36, unemployed, of St James’s Avenue, in Kemp Town, appeared in custody at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Saturday (29 April).
He was charged with the rape of a woman at an address in Worthing on the previous Sunday (23 April).
He was remanded in custody to appear at Lewes Crown Court on Friday 26 May.
Sussex Police said on Friday morning: “A man wanted for interview by police in connection with a rape investigation in Worthing has handed himself in.
“Joe Warren, 36, was arrested on suspicion of rape after presenting himself to officers at the town’s custody centre shortly before midnight on Thursday (27 April).”
