A 15-year-old boy has died in hospital just over a fortnight after falling from a car park at Brighton Marina.
In a message headed “Sad news from Longhill High School”, school business manager Jimmy Hollingworth wrote to pupils, parents and staff.
He said: “We are deeply saddened to inform our community that one of our students passed away on Friday 14 April 2017.
“Year 10 student Jordan Jamieson had a serious accident on Tuesday 28 March in which he fell and suffered critical injuries.”
He was taken to hospital in London where medical professionals have done their very best to save him, the school said.
It added: “Sadly Jordan’s injuries were too serious and, despite best efforts, Jordan passed away this morning.
“Our thoughts are with Jordan’s family and friends at this very sad and difficult time.
“We have been in contact with his family throughout this period to offer our support and we will continue to do so.
“We have also offered support to students and staff affected by this tragic event and measures are in place to continue with this support for as long as it is needed.”
After falling two storeys at the Marina, Jordan, who suffered head and leg injuries, was taken to St George’s Hospital, in London.
Sussex Police said at the time: “The incident is not being treated as suspicious.”
The coroner’s officer will be informed so that an inquest may be held.
