It’s the time of year when we can expect April showers – and Southern Water workers were called out when this one started in Brighton yesterday (Tuesday 11 April) at about noon.
Described by one local resident as a “pop-up fountain”, the spout reached about 40ft as it doused the corner of College Terrace and Sutherland Road, in Kemp Town.
The burst main was plugged in about half an hour although a full repair took a little longer.
Southern Water said: “There was a leak on a main in this location, which was repaired last night and the road back-filled and repaired at 7am this morning.”
