A suspect has been charged with glassing a man in the face in the centre of Brighton, Sussex Police said today (Friday 31 March).
The force said: “Police are appealing for witnesses after a man who was dancing in New Road, Brighton, was glassed in the face.
“The 36-year-old victim was dancing on a bollard in the middle of a crowd of people in New Road who were listening to a busker playing music at about 12.30am on Sunday 19 March.
“As he got off the bollard, a man came up to him and struck him across the face with a glass bottle causing a deep laceration across his forehead.
“A suspect was arrested nearby by police on suspicion of committing grievous bodily harm. He then allegedly assaulted an officer and was further arrested on suspicion of assault.”
Detective Constable Leon Howe said: “There were lots of people around listening to the music so we would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the assault.”
Sussex Police added: “If you were in the area at the time and witnessed the incident, please report by emailing 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk quoting serial 26 of 19/03.
“Jack Lindsay, 21, of Milton Road, Portsmouth, has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm and assault.
“He appeared at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on (Monday) 20 March and was remanded to appear at Lewes Crown Court on (Wednesday) 19 April.”
