Sussex Police issued an appeal for witnesses this afternoon (Monday 27 March).

The force said: “A 22-year-old man from London has sustained a serious injury to his face following an altercation in Brighton.

“Shortly after 3.20am on Saturday (25 March) an altercation broke out between two groups in King’s Road Arches.

“The victim was attacked with what is believed to be a broken bottle causing deep lacerations to his face.

“The victim was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital for treatment and was discharged later the same day.

“A 17-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of GBH (grievous bodily harm) and has been bailed until (Friday) 26 May while police continue with the investigation.

“Anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen what happened is asked to contact police online via https://sussex.police.uk/contact-us/response-to-appeal or call 101 quoting serial 203 of 25/03.

“Alternatively you can call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously by calling 0800 555111.”
