Nottingham Forest 3 Brighton & Hove Albion 0
Albion suffered their heaviest defeat of the season so far after a lacklustre performance saw them well beaten at the City Ground.
Albion had chances in the first half, notably from Sam Baldock and Steve Sidwell.
But it was Zach Clough (no relation) who put Forest ahead on the hour.
Albion had chances to equalise throughout the second half, Anthony Knockaert and Oliver Norwood with their best efforts.
In the final minute Liam Rosenior passed back to Albion keeper David Stockdale who inexplicably tried some sort of “keepy up” allowing Ben Osborne to nip in and double Forest’s lead.
Then Shane Duffy playing up front as an emergency striker suffered an injury and had to hobble off.
Late in injury time Lewis Dunk conceded a penalty, which Clough stroked home for his second of the match. The 21-year-old has previously scored against Brighton while playing for Bolton Wanderers.
One saving grace for Albion, who visit Rotherham on Tuesday (7 March), is that Newcastle won 3-1 at Huddersfield in the evening kick-off.
Bottle jobs, once again. No fight at all.
