With both Huddersfield and Newcastle dropping points earlier in the afternoon Albion Chris Hughton told Brighton & Hove News today that he was unaware of the outcomes prior to the end of the Reading match last Saturday saying “I only knew the results after the game, I thought that was the correct thing to do – maybe there were some in the dressing room that did know but it wouldn’t have affected how we went about the game for me it wouldn’t have added any value”
Shane Duffy is putting in excellent performances for the Albion and Hughton was quick to praise his central defender “he has been excellent for us and has formed a really good relationship with Lewis Dunk – there are two sides to his game, what he gives us defensively and defenders can start attacks with clearances, but he has played a lot of games at this level and settled in very very well”
Albion take on second place Newcastle United at the Amex tomorrow evening on Albion’s biggest home for years (28 February) Rafa Benetiz has been quoted as saying – he needs to be calm and find solutions before the trip to Brighton. @bhcitynews asked the Albion boss for his reaction to that. Hughton told us ” these are the sort of decisions and quotes managers have to go through, it’s all about reacting to a good performance that you want to see again you could be reacting to a good perfomance but not want players to get above themselves. Or even a performance when they could have done better, but Rafa’s quotes won’t be any different to the type I might make”
Seb Pocognoli is expected to be fit and will keep his place as left against Newcastle. Liam Rosenior was expected to play in an Under 23 match at Lancing against West Ham this afternoon.
