Firefighters were called to a burnt pan of food and a bathroom fire in Hove within minutes of each other yesterday afternoon.
At 5.21pm, two appliances from Brighton and Hove were sent to Lyndhurst Road, in Hove, following reports of an incident in a kitchen involving a pan of burnt food. Firefighters used a specialist fan to clear the building of smoke.
Just three minutes later, two appliances from Brighton and Hove were sent to Woodland Drive, in Hove, after reports of a small accidental bathroom fire.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used one hose reel jet to tackle the fire and a specialist fan was also used to clear the building of smoke.
Genuine question: on the face of it, two trucks for a “small bathroom fire” seems disproportionate – what is ESFR’s policy when assessing how to respond to incidents?
