With the FA Cup tie at Lincoln looming, Albion boss Chris Hughton told Brighton and Hove News how pleased he is with the progress of the development squad.
A few of the under 23s are likely to feature at Sincil Bank, especially with the continuing absence of Gaetan Bong, Sam Baldock and club captain Bruno Saltor.
Hughton said: “I was very happy with the bench (against Cardiff) – Richie Towell, for instance, who will feature on Saturday. The only slight disappointment was the centre forward position. And although I am delighted with what we have produced at under 23 level, the centre forward position is one we have had most difficulty with.”
One young Albion player who is unlikely to feature on Saturday is Rob Hunt. He is heading north for the remainder of the season as he joins Oldham Athletic on loan.
Hughton was rather cagey about the prospects of Albion signing a centre forward, acknowledging that just a few days of the transfer window remain.
