A teenage boy has died after falling from the bridge above the road in and out of Brighton Marina.
Officers from Sussex Police and paramedics from the South East Coast Ambulance Service (Secamb) were called shortly before 7.20am.
Secamb said: “Ambulance crews attended Marina Village this morning to reports a person had been found injured.
“A teenage boy, who was believed to have suffered a fall from height, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.”
Sussex Police said: “Police and ambulance services are dealing with an incident at Brighton Marina where it appears a man has fallen from a bridge.
“Emergency services were called to the scene at 7.19am on Wednesday (25 January).
“Sadly a 17-year-old boy died at the scene. This is not being treated as suspicious and the coroner has been informed.”
Brighton and Hove Buses said on Twitter: “Due to a police incident, the Marina is closed. Services that usually terminate at the Marina will use Roedean Road instead. Apologies.”
Shortly after 9am the road out of the Marina was reopened, with departing traffic being diverted via Black Rock. The entrance was still closed.
It was unclear whether the man had fallen, jumped or been pushed.
I saw it from my flat. Tragically the man died but massive respect to the paramedics and police that performed CPR. RIP
Always tragic to hear about young people, or anyone losing their precious life. I wonder if he was messing around or maybe it was just a tragic accident.
I drove past & saw them giving CPR, it was on my mind all day.
I’m saddened to read this is what it was.
My heart goes out to his family & to the oficer who was giving CPR on my way to & from the marina.
Thank you for all support the sister was devastated and her family (including me) where informed sadly a day after his name was rouben
