Police bail has been granted to the two men who were arrested after the hit and run in Brighton in which a man died on Tuesday night (10 January).
Sussex Police said: “Both men, from the city, handed themselves in on Wednesday (11 January) in relation to the collision at the junction of Old Steine and St James’s Street at around 10pm.
“A 33-year-old man and a 35-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, drink driving, failing to stop for police and failing to report an accident.
“They have both been bailed for all the offences until Monday 27 February while investigations continue.
“Police are still working to trace the next of kin of the victim, a 78-year-old local man, who died.”
The man, a pedestrian, was hit and killed during a car chase and Sussex Police added: “The Independent Police Complaints Commission is independently investigating the circumstances of the police pursuit.”
