Almost two months after Brighton and Hove News put it to Chris Hughton that Albion were rumoured to be interested in signing Frank Lampard, the story has gathered pace.
However, it all stems from Football League sponsor Sky Bet installing Albion as 9/4 favourite to sign the ex-Chelsea midfielder, who won 106 caps for England.
This betting market is likely to be quite volatile and misleading though, as any bet placed over £50 is likely to send the selection price tumbling.
Back in November Chris Hughton told Brighton and Hove News that Albion currently had a healthy compliment of senior players when it comes to experience.
Beram Kayal, one those players, is expected to make a long-awaited return from injury against MK Dons in the FA Cup third round this coming Saturday (7 January) at the Amex.
