A Peacehaven man has been arrested on suspicion of armed robbery less than 24 hours after staff were threatened with a gun at a local supermarket.
Sussex Police said: “Police investigating an incident that occurred at Sainsbury’s store on South Coast Road, Peacehaven, on Sunday evening (4 December) have arrested a 49-year-old local man on suspicion of robbery with a firearm.
“The arrested man is currently in police custody while inquiries continue.”
On Sunday police said that officers were called to the store at about 8.40pm after a man pulled a gun on staff.
He fled on foot towards Dorothy Avenue with a white plastic bag. He was believed to have stolen booze.
