A Peacehaven man has been released on police bailed after being arrested on suspicion of armed robbery at a Sainsbury’s supermarket.
The 49-year-old was held after staff were threatened with a gun at the store in South Coast Road, Peacehaven, on Sunday night.
Sussex Police said: “A 49-year-old Peacehaven man, arrested on Monday 5 December on suspicion of robbery, having a firearm with intent to commit an indictable offence and possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence at the Sainsbury store in South Coast Road, Peacehaven, on Sunday 4 December, has been released on bail until Saturday 7 January 2017 while inquiries continue.”
After the robbery a man was reported to have fled on foot towards Dorothy Avenue with a white plastic bag. He was believed to have stolen booze.
