Commuters faced a three-mile tailback after a rush-hour crash on the A27 Brighton bypass this morning (Friday 2 December).
An earlier crash on the A270 Lewes Road also affected drivers on their way to work.
Sussex Police said: “At 7.48am emergency services were called to the A27 westbound at Hollingbury, half a mile before the junction with the A23, where two cars had been in collision.
“The occupants of both vehicles, believed to be a blue Ford Focus and a blue Volkswagen Touran, were not thought to have been seriously injured but the road was blocked while the scene was cleared.”
A tow truck arrived to clear the second of the cars away at 9am as eastbound drivers queued from Falmer.
Sussex Police added that two cars were involved in the earlier prang, at 7.16am, at the corner of Lewes Road and Moulsecoomb Way, Brighton.
One drive with minor injuries was treated at the scene by paramedics. The scene was clear by 8.24am.
