The Mayor of Brighton and Hove is to host a reception for Albanian Independence Day in the Mayor’s Parlour at Brighton Town hall next Monday (28 November).
Hundreds of Albanians live in Brighton and Hove and many families who moved here from Albania and Kosovo turned out for a children’s day community event last month.
The events are part of efforts to build better links between communities from other countries and people and community groups in Brighton and Hove.
The event is being organised by officials from Brighton and Hove City Council and officers from Sussex Police.
They said: “We would like to welcome all members of the local Albanian community along and offer the opportunity to meet the Brighton and Hove Mayor, local councillors and representatives from the Surrey and London Albanian Association.”
Chief Inspector Chris Veale said: “This is a community event which we hope will increase trust and confidence in Sussex Police among those living and working in the city and build on some of the relationships we have already established with Albanians within Brighton and Hove.”
The Independence Day reception starts at 12.30pm and ends at 3pm. For more information, contact PC Nikki Denero on nikki.denero@sussex.pnn.police.uk.
