An expert police negotiator has been called for after a screaming man clambered on to rooftops and refused to come down in Hove this evening (Monday 14 November).
The drama is unfolding in Boundary Road, Hove, after the man started shouting and screaming in the area around Portslade Railway Station.
Sussex Police said that several people dialled 999 at about 8.30pm onwards.
The response included at least four cars and a dog handler as the man climbed a building and fled across the rooftops. He was seen atop Boots at one point.
Sussex Police said that the man was found on a building roof but he wouldn’t come down – “We don’t know why at this stage” – and the force added that a negotiator has been called out.
One local said on Facebook: “Police drama is unfolding on Boundary Road with a man being chased from roof to roof. Four cars in attendance.
“Think he was screaming and kicking things in the road. Drunk maybe. Look out in Worcester Villas just in case.
“Everyone outside of Tesco was cheering for him.”
Officers from the British Transport Police were among those who tried to trace the man. But, despite a search of the area, the man appeared to give police the slip.
Must be the Super Moon ?
