A 14-year-old Brighton girl was approached by a man in a silver car this morning (Friday 21 October), prompting schools to warn parents and pupils to be alert.
A message to parents from St Luke’s Primary School said: “Please could we ask you to be alert to the presence of a man acting suspiciously in the Elm Grove area today.
“A secondary school student was approached by a man in his mid-twenties with a beard and black cap. He had pale and dirty hands and was driving a new silver car.
“Please report anything suspicious or concerning to Sussex Police.
“Thank you for supporting us to keep children safe.”
And St Martin’s Primary School texted and emailed parents to say: “The school has just had notice of a man acting suspiciously in the Elm Grove area today. Please be vigilant. Thank you.”
Sussex Police said: “Police were called at around 9.35am on Friday (21 October) to report a 14-year-old girl had been approached by a man in a silver car in Glynde Road, Brighton.
“The suspect is believed to have made lewd comments before reaching out of the car window and putting a piece of paper in her school blazer pocket which she threw away.
“He has been described as white, in his mid-twenties with a beard and dirty hands. He was wearing a black cap.
“Police are investigating.”
