Three people have been injured – two of them seriously – in a crash just outside Brighton early this morning (Wednesday 12 October).
The air ambulance was called out to the crash between a van and car at Saddlescombe – between Brighton and Poynings – at about 5am.
Queues of rush-hour traffic built up as the emergency services dealt with the aftermath of the crash.
Sussex Police said: “At around 5am police were called to Saddlescombe Road at its junction with Devil’s Dyke Road, north of Brighton, where two vehicles had collided.
“Involved were a blue BMW car and a red Ford Transit van. Three people were reported to have been injured, two seriously. The Kent, Surrey and Sussex air ambulance was called in.
“Motorists are currently advised to avoid the area due to road closures being in place.”
