The Seagulls moved back into the Championship play off places after beating Burton by virtue of an 88th minute Tomer Hemed penalty.
Anthony Knockaert, Dale Stephens and Hemed all had good first half chances for the Seagulls.
With Will Miller forcing a good save from David Stockdale, on a rare foray forward from the home side.
Lewis Dunk hit the bar from Jiri Skalak cross early in the second half as the Seagulls continued to dominate.
Knockaert and Hemed had further chances, before Skalak was sent tumbling in the area by John Brayford.
Hemed stepped up and cooley dispatched the spot kick past Jon McLaughlin.
Albion move up to sixth place.
The Seagulls take on Reading in the ELC at the Amex this coming Tuesday (20th September) Then Barnsley, also at home next Saturday (24th September)
