Police are hoping Pride revellers could have filmed an altercation between a rowdy reveller and police which ended with one officer falling into the pond at Preston Park.
The incident happened after police told a man who had been seen acting aggressively in the park to leave on Saturday, 6 August, issuing him with a notice not to return for 48 hours.
When they found him soon afterwards and went to arrest him, he resisted and grabbed the officer’s Captor spray and sprayed it at two officers.
Another officer then suffered a cut hand and ended up falling backwards into a pond in front of the Rotunda café in the park at about 4.34pm.
Detective Constable Angela Harvey said: “We believe a number of people watching this were filming it on their mobile phones. If you have filmed the incident then please get in touch with us by emailing 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk or ring 101 quoting serial 1257 of 8/6.”
Kenan James, 30, unemployed, of no fixed address is charged with possession of an offensive weapon namely a police style baton, assault with intent to resist arrest, failing to comply with a section 35 direction to exclude a person from a certain area, possession of a weapon for the discharge of a noxious liquid or gas namely Captor spray and possession of cannabis.
