Family members have paid tribute to a teenager from Portslade who is believed to have been murdered.
Sussex Police said: “The family of a Mile Oak murder victim have released a heartfelt tribute to their daughter, together with a photograph.
“Sharon Grice and Richard Green, of Hove, parents of Shana Grice, 19, said: ‘Shana is our beautiful girl, a kind thoughtful, caring daughter who always thought of others.
“‘We would like to thank Ashley (her boyfriend) and his family for their support.
“‘We would also like to thank everyone for their beautiful kind words.’
“Shana’s body was found at her address in Chrisdory Road, Mile Oak, on Thursday morning (25 August).
“The 27-year-old man arrested on Thursday on suspicion of murder is still in custody for interview and further inquiries.
“Magistrates at Brighton have today (Friday 26 August) granted a warrant authorising his continued detention if necessary until Sunday 28 August.
“A post-mortem is currently taking place in Brighton but is not expected to conclude until later on Friday evening.
“As previously announced, the death has been notified to the IPCC (Independent Police Complaints Commission) owing to there having been previous police contact with the deceased and other people.
“Her family have been informed of this development.
“We await the IPCC’s decision as to how any internal investigation will be conducted.”
